Matt Prindiville, Natural Resource Council of Maine

Matt Prindiville is the Clean Production Project Director for the Natural Resources Council of Maine, the state’s leading environmental advocacy organization working to protect the nature of Maine, now and for future generations.  Matt has worked on numerous campaigns to protect Maine’s environment and the health of our people and wildlife, while promoting clean production and sustainable economic development.  His professional background includes work to phase out the use of unnecessary, dangerous chemicals in commerce, and promote product stewardship and sustainable design for a green economy.

Mitch Thomashow, President, Unity College

Dr. Mitchell Thomashow is the President of Unity College in Maine, a small environmental liberal arts college whose mission entails stewardship, sustainability, and service. As a college president, he aspires to integrate concepts of ecology, sustainability, natural history, wellness, participatory governance, and community service into all aspects of college and community life. He is on the Steering Committee of the American College and University President’s Climate Commitment, and speaks frequently on issues of sustainability and environmental learning. He is the author of two books, Ecological Identity (1995) and Bringing the Biosphere Home (2001), both published with the MIT Press.

Scott Dickerson, Executive Director, Coastal Mountains Land Trust

Scott Dickerson has served as the Executive Director of Coastal Mountains Land Trust since 1998.  He received a Bachelor's degree in environmental planning in 1972 from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and a Master’s degree from College of the Atlantic in 1995 for his thesis research on ecological reserve planning.  Resident of Maine all of his adult life, Scott designed and made custom fine furniture for a national clientele from 1972 through the mid-1980’s and authored articles for the journal Fine Woodworking.  Since 1986 he has worked in conservation as a land planning consultant and as staff for non-profit organizations.  He is author of the book celebrating the Ducktrap Watershed conservation program, To Save a River, with photographer Dennis Shultz, published in May, 2002.

Bob Gordon, Outward Bound and Ragged Mountain Recreation Area Foundation

Bob Gordon is the President of Outward Bound Professional programs, headquartered in Camden . He works in the areas of team building, leadership development, cultural change, communication, and trust building. He is also President of the Ragged Mountain Area Foundation, which is in a long-term campaign to completely renovate the Camden Snow Bowl.
   
Maureen Heffernan, Executive Director, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens

Maureen Heffernan has been the Executive Director of the 248-acre Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay , Maine , since 2004 where she has overseen the planning and construction of Maine ’s first major botanical garden in Maine . CMBG offers ornamental gardens, waterfront and woodland trails, year-round educational and special event programs, art exhibits and has a 9,500 sq. ft. Visitor Center with a café and giftshop.   Before coming to CMBG, she worked at the Cleveland Botanical Garden in Cleveland , Ohio and the American Horticultural Society in Alexandria , Virginia . She is the author of several books including soon-to-be-published Native Plants for Maine Gardens and Fairy Houses of the Maine Coast – both published by Downeast Press.
