Dr. Catherine Renault, Director, Office of Innovation, Department of Economic and Community Development

Catherine S. Renault serves as the Director, Office of Innovation in the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development and as Science Advisor to the Governor. The Office oversees and evaluates all programs that receive state funding for research and development, coordinates efforts between and among the state’s educational, non-profit and for profit research-intensive organizations and develops and implements a science and technology plan for the state consistent with Maine’s overall economic development strategy. The Office manages the budgets for the Maine Technology Institute and the Technology Centers as well as the annual Comprehensive R&D Evaluation.

Miles Unobsky Theeman, Chairman of the Maine Innovation Economy Advisory Board

Miles Unobsky Theeman, Lubec High School, Class of 1968 is the Chairman of the Maine Innovation Economy Advisory Board. The MIEAB is a 33 member, all-vounteer group, appointed by the Governor, which among its several R&D responsibilities, is charged with developing, advocating for and helping to implement the science & technology action plan for the State of Maine which you are hearing about today.  In his day job, Miles is the President and CEO of Affiliated Healthcare Systems, a  Bangor based company which provides a wide variety of support services to healthcare providers and industry throughout New England. He earned his undergraduate degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Florida. Miles is passionate about economic development in any form that will benefit the State of Maine.
