Maine Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts is a statewide organization that provides low income Maine artists with access to effective legal counsel at no or low cost.  Since 2008, VLA has helped a wide variety of artists and arts-based businesses protect their own copyrights and trademarks, form the proper business entity and structure the deal that makes their dreams a reality, among many other things.  Through legal referrals, educational programming, and mediation, Maine VLA helps Maine's artists become more in tuned with today's business world.
