Gino Bona is a doer.
As an advertising professional, Gino worked his way from junior copywriter to creating a Super Bowl commercial for the National Football League. As a writer, he authored dozens of columns for ESPN.com and served as editor for Alex Boguskys FearLess Revolution. As a business professional, he led the marketing and public relations department for Camden National Corporation and is currently a Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) for an engineering company that provides processing solutions to the Intelligence Community.
Gino has been featured in national media outlets including USA Today, FOX News, The Washington Post, ESPN, Adweek, and the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.

Nathan Davis, “Nate”, has worked in music, technology, art, math, and finance. He is a cofounder of Steel House, a center for design, technology, and education in Rockland. His current creative projects are attempts to use technology to craft a more embracing humanism. His current technical work focuses on artificial intelligence and machine learning. He lives in Rockland, just a short walk away from the Strand Theatre.

In addition to performing for more than 30 years, Rachel Flehinger has had the privilege of teaching performance and experienced the challenges of working in the corporate world. She started her career in New York City and is proud to call Maine her home. While in Maine, Rachel has been a guest on numerous blogs, podcasts, and websites including The Bangor Daily News and MaineToday.com. She has been featured in numerous articles in publications such as The Press Herald, The Portland Phoenix and InnovateME. An award winning improv comedian and former radio morning show personality, Rachel is bringing all of those life experiences together with InnerAction.

Lewis Freedman lives in Madison, Wisconsin where he co-organizes the reading series Oscar Presents with Anna Vitale, Andy Gricevich, and Jordan Dunn, and also prints and disseminates poetry chapbooks with a press he calls Anarchive. His most recent books are Hold the Blue Orb, Baby (Well Greased Press, 2013) and Solitude: The Complete Games (Troll Thread, 2013). Forthcoming are, in the near future, non-symbolic non-symbolic non-symbolic (Same Text), and in the less near future, Residual Synonyms for the Name of God (Ugly Duckling Presse).
Poet Lewis Freedman and technologist Nathan Davis have been collaborating on the creation of a distributed, immersive experience of poetry. Their Juice event will be the biggest such experience yet! Bring your mobile devices - anything with a web browser and internet connection will suffice. This project will demonstrate ways in which technology can expand the scope and depth of traditional humanistic endeavor.

Edith & Bennett (Edith Gawler and Bennett Konesni) are musicians and worksong scholars who together play old-time fiddle, banjo, Swedish dance tunes, and farmer’s ballads and hollers.
Edith Gawler grew up in Maine as a member of the legendary Gawler Family Band, which has now grown to include her husband, Bennett Konesni. As a duo, she and Bennett play old-time fiddle and banjo music, Swedish dance tunes, and sing farmer’s ballads and hollers. They teach worksongs together in a variety of settings across the country. Not long ago, Edith finished her architectural thesis at Syracuse University, which looks to draw on the principles of the local sustainable food movement as a model for a new architecture.
Bennett Konesni is co-founder of Sylvester Manor, a 243-acre educational farm on Shelter Island, NY on a piece of land that has been in his family since 1652. His roles there include teaching worksongs to the farm crew and directing the annual fall festival “Plant & Sing”, which brings the community to the farm to complete two week’s worth of garlic shucking and planting in a single morning, all while singing worksongs.
As a student at Middlebury College, Bennett co-founded the student farm, and majored in Music, Anthropology and Environmental Studies, and upon graduation he was awarded a Thomas J Watson fellowship to spend a year studying worksongs on three continents. Though he received his MBA from Antioch University New England in 2009, his passion is still worksongs, music that transforms labor into something between work and play. He envisions a world in which farmers, cooks, and eaters once again sing in fields, kitchens, and at the table.
Together, Edith and Bennett balance their life on Shelter Island with their home in Maine. In January 2013 they started their own homestead in Belfast, Maine, and they still perform with several bands, including their Shelter Island-based group, The Sylvester Manor Worksongers, their Maine groups, the Gawler Sisters and Family bands, and their roots-music duo “Edith & Bennett.” For more about us, please feel free to send us an email

Casey Gerald is the co-founder and CEO of MBAs Across America, a national movement of MBAs and entrepreneurs working together to revitalize America. He began his career in economic policy & government innovation at the Center for American Progress, and has worked as a strategist with startup social ventures including Reboot and The Future Project, as well as companies such as The Neiman Marcus Group. A native Texan, Casey received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Political Science from Yale College. He has been featured on MSNBC, in the New York Times, Financial Times, Fast Company, and other national & local media outlets.

-DON GOODING Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development
Don Gooding has been Executive Director of the Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development since October 2010. He is also Vice Chair of the Maine Angels and has taught or spoken about innovation and entrepreneurship at USM, UMaine, SMCC, UNE and Colby. Previously he was a telecommunications market analyst and venture capitalist for fifteen years, founded and ran a global specialty music business for sixteen years, and has invested as an angel since the late 1990s.
As Research Partner for Accel Partners (1986-1996), he investigated new telecom and networking markets, finding and evaluating new investment opportunities. Don authored a monthly column in Communications Week, was co-chair of the annual Accel/Stanford Center for Telecommunications Symposium, and was the first webmaster in the venture capital industry. He worked closely with companies such as UUNET, Teleos, Clear Communications and PictureTel.
Don founded the world’s first a cappella music catalog in his spare bedroom in 1992. Eventually it grew to three divisions: A-Cappella.com, the largest source of a cappella music in the world; Varsity Vocals, which ran the college singing competition at the center of the hit movie Pitch Perfect; and a sheet music publishing company. Those businesses were sold in 2007, but he occasionally closes his talks with a tune from his growing Sinatra repertoire.
As a member of Maine Angels he has invested in early stage technology companies, including Ocean Renewable Power Company, Introspective Systems, Zylo Media, Pixability, Cognoptix and IW Financial. His most successful angel investment to date was backing his longtime friend Jay Borden in Granite Systems, a New Hampshire software firm serving telecom carriers, for which he was the first outside director. Don received his B.A. from Yale University cum laude with distinction in Economics in 1981, concentrating on the economics of data transmission.
-MEGAN GROCKI, Megan Grocki
Megan is a candidate for a Master’s degree in gastronomy with a focus in food policy at Boston University, and leads product design research at Nasdaq. With over 15 years of experience in consumer research, experience design and strategy, she helps design teams discover the expectations and behaviors of their audiences and identify opportunities for engagement. She hopes to leverage her research, design, and strategy chops to educate the public about the connections between their health and what they eat, and use design to help affect changes in food policy at local, national and global levels.
-DYLAN NEWCOMB, Dylan Newcomb
Dylan Newcomb is the founder and director of the UZAZU Mind-Body Method, a highly effective way of engaging the multiple intelligences of the mind and body to rapidly stimulate energy, creativity, mental-emotional well-being and build interpersonal skills.
Trained at the prestigious Juilliard School in both dance and music composition, Dylan was a multi-award-winning dancer, choreographer and composer in the Netherlands for over fifteen years. His passion for a variety of forms of art creation and performance slowly evolved into a clear, singular calling: to empower people access the insight, skillfulness and joy that comes from creatively engaging with life through their whole mind and body.
Generously funded by the Dutch government, Dylan went on to found a mind-body research lab where he conducted extensive experiments to explore how specific vocal tonalities, together with physical postures and movements, affect people’s mental-emotional states and specific interpersonal skills. His striking discoveries were synthesized into the UZAZU Mind-Body Method, which has emerged as a next-generation, highly integrative framework for cultivating self-awareness, positive states of being, and heightened interpersonal performance.
Since bringing UZAZU out of the research lab, together with his wife Kyung-sun Baek, Dylan has lectured extensively world-wide, enhanced self-awareness and collaboration within companies and organizations, professionally certified over twenty coaches, therapists and teachers in using UZAZU with groups and individuals and has currently taught UZAZU, as a daily vitality and energy-tuning practice, to more than 3,000 people.
The UZAZU approach to personal development, along with it’s validated whole-person self-assessment online tools, is currently being adopted for the entire student body of a large new disruptive online university, Ubiquity University, to be launched in Beta in the Spring of 2015.

Betsy is a business and marketing strategist with proven results positioning, launching and growing content and technology businesses.
She has run p&ls of all sizes for media and lifestyle companies like ESPN, The Outdoor Life Network, The Resort Sports Network (now Outside Television) and the Steamboat Springs Ski and Resort Corporation. Betsy launched the first website in the ski industry, produced the first live webcast of a K2 ascent in 1999 and led the rebranding of the XGames in 2004.
She raised $20M in capital in 1999 and grew a Maine based e-commerce business from start-up to $12 million in revenue. In 2010, she co-founded a SaaS-based guidance platform that was recognized as an educational innovator by the White House.
She holds an undergraduate degree in government from St. Lawrence University and a masters in business administration with a concentration in entrepreneurship from The University of Texas at Austin.
She is currently an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Maine Technology Institute where she connects portfolio companies to the customers, talent and funds required to spur growth.
